Objectification

These are photographs of images from exploitation movies from the 1950's and 1960's. I cropped the tv frame, zoomed in on and positioned the subjects in such a manner that would suggest that they are no longer viewed as human beings, but objects of desire. The photography of an already "captured" image also manifests the theme of voyeurism.

Phantoms

"After a few hours of tossing and turning, I decide to hit the pavement and try my hardest to forget everything. Everywhere I go, however, I run into her."

"I try to avoid the box, but I stare straight into the window. That simple, yellow box sends a flood of memories through my brain. I can almost smell the fragrance. I can almost smell her."

Foreboding

"When I peered into the empty building, the last thing I expected was a pair of eyes gazing back at me. It was at that point that I began to fear for my life"

"The only source of solace that I found in this dead end town was the blinking neon sign of a run-down diner."

El Primero

Better late than never. I know that I'm jumpin on the blog bandwagon a little late, but I REFUSE to create a MySpace or Facebook account for 2 reasons:

1) I feel that I am too old and would be viewed as a pervert.
2) Too many people would know too much about my life.

There are other various reasons but those are the main ones.

Let me tell you about myself.

I am a 29 year old college senior. Yes, I realize that 29 is a lot older than your average senior but, hey, that's life. I am graduating from San Jose State University's School of Art and Design on May 26th of this year. I will have a degree in Pictorial Arts and a minor in Graphic Design. Respect.

I recently got married to a beautiful woman that I met during my stint at SJSU. She graduated with a degree in Art History. Her name is Elizabeth and I adore her.

Now, with all of that out of my system, my mental constipation has been relieved. Stay tuned for the runny, nutty goodness that comprises the thought stream that flows through my mind. There will be some funny stuff, some sad stuff and some boring stuff. Hey, I'm not forcing you to read this.
